The cars "Brake Power Low" warning light illuminated on the dash. This was covered as the Brake Vacuum pump for another 2018 Camry that we have, but is not a recall for our other Camry. I am taking it in to Servco Hawaii to diagnose the issue, but again, this was the same issue that our other Camry had. The brake is spongy, and I checked the brake fluid to ensure that it was topped off. This was the first time that I noticed the brakes being spongy.

I have notice for the past year when I-??m driving the car around the city around 15-30mph the emergency auto braking system alarm sounds and shows on my dash board when I have nobody in front of me luckily the car doesn-??t brake at all but is not normal for it to do that it just happens randomly maybe this year alone it happen 5 times. Nobody safety was put at risk the car doesn-??t brake or anything but it just sounds the alarm to brake, like 100% of the time is a low speeds. I haven-??t taken it to the dealer, and I have no warning lights nothing at all is just random.

I was driving my car and out of nowhere my brakes stopped working I was really scared because I didn-??t know what was going on thanks God I didn-??t have an accident when the car stopped I check the cluster and it said -?? breaking power low stop in a safe place-?? I look it up on the internet and it said that the problem is that the vacuum pump assembly isn-??t working and that the Toyota Camry 2018 thro 2023 they all have that problem -??recall-?? I was wondering if my car qualifies to get that part for free

On [XXX]?my daughter brought her 2018 Toyota Camry with 62k miles into Mike Calvert Toyota of Houston Texas for brake noise. The service department evaluated the car and recommended that the rear brakes be replaced. With that advice she had the work done. She left the dealership that day and went home and the car sat until the morning of [XXX]. She had some traveling to do out of town and returned that same day. She got within 45 miles of her destination when I got a frantic phone call from her saying that she was traveling at a high rate of speed and was unable to stop. The warning on the vehicle says Low Braking Power. I was able to have her put her hazard lights on a get to the shoulder where she couldn't get her speed below 10 miles per hour. She was able to use the E-break and an elevated surface to get the car to a safe spot some 45 miles away. We have made numerous attempts to get the dealership to tell us why this happened. Initially they stated that the calipers failed. After calling repeatedly we were told it was a defective part that was installed and they needed to get a new one in. The dealership refuses to answer any phone calls or emails. I have appealed to the GM on numerous occasions and the Owner with no replies. We need NHTSA to investigate whether this dealership is doing faulty work that jeopardizes lives or did Toyota fail to recall this vehicle and the issue is more wide spread. I fear for the public safety if the issue is more wide spread. This vehicle was not part recalled for brake issues. The VIN appears to be clear of those recalls. I am writing this letter because, on August 1, 2023, my wife, and I, were involved in an accident with our 2018 Toyota Camry, which may have been due to SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION, a defect which affected Camry owners for over 10 years, and is still happening. Most of these accidents occurred when the driver was pulling slowly into a parking space and their car suddenly accelerated strongly and couldn-??t be stopped by hitting the brakes. The car only stopped when it hit a solid object. This often resulted in serious injuries, even death. On August 1, my wife was driving the Camry (I was in the front passenger seat) and she was in the process of slowly pulling into a parking space at Parkside Town Commons in Cary, with her foot on the brake. Without warning, the car suddenly accelerated and she was unable to stop it by hard braking. The car jumped the curb in front of it and climbed a landscaped incline, only stopping when it crashed into a wrought iron fence in front if it. There were no vehicle warning messages prior to the accident. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the Camry had over $6,000 in damages and the fence was bent badly where the car hit it. We called the Cary Police and a Police Report was made. No tickets were issued by the Cary Police. Our Toyota dealer referred us to a higher level Toyota office that deals with special vehicle problems, which we called. We reported the accident, they said it would be reviewed. We have had no response from theToyota higher level office since. Though the damage was repaired, we are very worried that if our Camry has a SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION defect, we could suffer another such accident anytime. It is very critical to have our vehicle inspected for such a flaw, whether in electronics, the throttle, brakes, or anything else. As this problem is an important safety issue, we feel the need to have it checked out. Would appreciate your assistance.

Replaced brakes in June on the 19th, 23rd and my brakes are squeaking and goes all the way to the floor sometimes before my brakes actually works. I have take my car back to Toyota twice and they said nothing is wrong with my car. This is a safety hazard and needs to be addressed so it can be fixed IMMEDIATELY!!!

2018 Toyota camry hybrid at a stop sign the car would not engage into drive while it was on ""D" when I let my foot off the brake to hit the gas, the cars "BRAKE HOLD system" failed. I then shut the car off and back on to reset the car, which allowed me to get to the next STOP sign and It happened again a few times until I made it home.

I purchased a brand new 2018 toyota camry le with nothing but problems from the beginning. The brakes have been bad from day 1. The make noise when braking and they supposedly fixed it. I was driving on the freeway down a hill and when I went to press on the brakes they did not do anything and I had the pedal all the way down. I had to pump the brakes putting me and my passengers in danger. The engine hesitates when accelerating. I took it in twice already and they don't know what the issue is. Once it finally decides to go it accelerates excessively putting the driver in danger. This has been going in for years.

on Feb 20, 2023, during my evening lunch break about 7:30 pm, I drove my car to a nearby gas station to fill it. As I was attempting to back into place, my brakes froze and a "Low Braking Power" message appears in my dash and my car hit a pole because it would not stop. On Feb 21, 2023, I towed it to our family mechanic who informed me that there was a recall on this issue and to take it to a dealer instead. I had it towed to Temecula Valley Toyota. They offered me a rental car while they repaired the recall issue and sent a request to Toyota to repair the damage to my bumper from the loss of brake performance. I was told there would be no charge because it was a recall. They wanted a deposit of $100 since we only had a debit card not a credit card. on March 8, someone left a message on my voicemail saying Toyota said they were only paying for 2 days and they wanted to let us know they would be charging a substantial amount to our car. This time of the call was 4:48Pm. We called back at 4:55p and got no answer. I immediately checked my bank statement and I had been charged $675. Toyota has had my car since 2-21-23 and no info on its return. Customer Service Relation person called after we did an online complaint with Toyota, and also with a Toyota person at Toyota.com named Matthew. The Customer Relations person who called around 3-18 or 3-19 and said the case was with Toyota Legal. Its 3-28-23 and no information. We want our $675 back because we have auto insurance that covers rentals @ $51 per day. We have reported the accident to Farmer's who cannot access our car as long as its at Toyota. We have paid our note and have not had usage of our car and we want that car note returned as well.
