Camry LE 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 177 miles

Very sluggish from a dead stop. Trans has trouble deciding what gear to be in. Often bucks (jerks) when changing gears. When turning or changing lanes at a slow speed, trans goes into neutral by itself, engine revs up but car goes nowhere for about 3 seconds. This 8 speed transmission is a disaster that Toyota should be re-calling! I have had numerous Camrys, Corollas, and a Sienna and had no problem with the transmissions in them. Toyota should be ashamed of this new 8 speed, it is going to destroy their reputation and erode customer confidence in their products.

Camry LE 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission

Problem occurred day after purchase. Freeman Toyota of Santa Rosa, Ca. has refused to acknowledge problem. I've had the car for 9 months. I have been intimated by the dealership. There is a very abrupt forward jolt after the accelerator pedal is pressed. This sometimes happens in a higher gear and the jolt can be quite severe. There are additional problems. Sometimes when coming to a stop the car does not come out of gear and the engine starts to bog down, like if you have a manual transmission and you don't press in the clutch as you come to a stop. Sometimes when accelerating from a stop the car lurches forward. None of this seems to have anything to do with the car being cold.
