The driver's side visor does not stay up. This causes a safety issue as it can block my vision. This occurs either while stationary or moving, speed doesn't seem to effect

Rear windshield exploded while sitting in driveway on 8/15/15. Dashboard very shiny and sticky, causing a horrible glare. The glare gets so bad that sometimes I can't see other drivers. Toyota says they will replace it when parts come in, it's been 2 years since then and still no parts. In the meantime, the glare gets worse. It's just a matter of time before an accident occurs.

Engines oil being consumed at an accelerated and driver and passenger sun visors loose which hinders drivers view while driving because they flop downwards and do not stay at a recommended angle to block sun during use.

Visor recall: I noticed that the visor on the drivers side was gradually coming down and despite asking my local dealership to look into it, the problem was deferred and I was asked to wait until it got much worse. Last week it actually came close to a point of becoming detached altogether; I reviewed the warranty/extended warranty information on the issue and to my surprise I realized that was an extended warranty coverage on this problem (vehicles 2007-2011); however upon calling Toyota I was told that my vehicle was never a part of the extended warranty ztt and even if it was I wouldn't qualify since I was outside of the 7 years of time limit. I never received any notification, neither the dealer made me aware of the problem, and now I am put in a position where I have to get it replaced with out of pocket expenses (not cheap ~ $295 parts + labor + taxes). Besides it is a safety concern the entire visor can become detached while driving potentially leading to serious injury and accidents. I had a similar issue with my electronic braking system - actuator that I had replaced by paying $2150 out of pocket and made a compliant to nhtsb and later due to a numerous compliants a wider recall was issued and I was reimbursed by Toyota. Hope this issue gets looked into since there are a large number of similar complaints on the website forum.

I started to feel sticky spots on the top-side dashboard facing windshield. The soft, sticky spots were accumulating light-colored dust over the past year. They were not greasy, but extremely sticky and tacky to the touch. The accumulated dust was not cleanable or able to be removed without damaging dashboard material. (I rubbed off the top layer of plastic trying to gently clean with a wet poly towel). They were starting to reflect off my windshield during daytime driving. I ignored this issue for a while but lately noticed the interior glare is getting worse toward the front of my dashboard at the windshield junction. It's especially present on bright days where the sun is high up. This is presenting a potentially serious safety issue with regards to outward driving visibility. Toyota has been contacted and I started a problem case with them. I am awaiting further instructions on what Toyota wants to do next with my vehicle. A special "warranty enhancement" has been started to address this "cosmetic concern." Please look into this potentially serious safety issue to ensure Toyota is addressing this problem appropriately and expeditiously for owners.

The dashboard of my 2007 Toyota Camry hybrid is melting!! the melting is creating a glare on the windshield making it very hard to see at times. A simple internet search will yield you 100's of results of the same complaint for this make/model. Toyota is aware of the issue as they have changed the material used on the dash. My inquiries to Toyota Corp and the dealership where I bought my vehicle are not being taken seriously and I really fear that the visibility issues can result in death or accidents. Currently, there is a class-action lawsuit for their sister company, Lexus, regarding the recalling of their dashboards using the same exact material. It is unfair that Toyota Corp is only addressing the needs of their luxury model car owners and creating an environment that is unsafe for me and my children. April at Toyota Corp told me today that it's not a craftmanship issue- it's the climate in which I live. The negligence in this matter is so apparent and I am disappointed that they are allowed to get away with this. This is my second time dealing with Toyota Corp on this issue. The previous time was in September of last year.

2007 model year Toyota Camry were manufactured using a dashboard material that deteriorates with exposure to sunlight. Specifically, the plastic becomes very shiny, very tacky, and easy to damage. When the sun angle is correct, the light reflects off the shiny plastic, and then reflects off the windshield into the driver's eyes, producing a glare that represents, in my opinion, a safety hazard. A considerable amount of plastic is also being deposited daily on the windshield inner surface, producing a whitish haze that reduces visibility and increases scattered light. Numerous Toyota Camry (and some Lexus) owners are reporting the same problem, primarily in locations that receive more sunlight (Florida, Texas, puerto rico, and Hawaii, for example, as an internet search can easily show; to see a video, search on youtube for "Toyota Camry sticky dashboard"). some 2008 model year Toyota Camry are beginning to show the same problem. Note that 2007 was the first year of the redesigned Camry model. Much older Camry are not showing this problem, thus it seems clear that Toyota switched to a different dashboard material starting with the 2007 model year, but only now is it becoming clear that the chosen material is inappropriate for the intended use. Toyota has known about this problem for months, yet no safety recall has been issued as of this writing.

The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The contact made attempts to notify the manufacturer but was unsuccessful. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 45,000.

The driver side visor will not go down all the way (against the windshield) and neither will it stay up (against the car interior ceiling). When it flops down it obscures visibility into the rearview mirror as well as out the windshield. There is no anticipating when it will come down. The only way to get it out of the way is to push it against the driver side window, thus obscuring that view and providing no protection against the sun's glare when needed. I have read countless accounts of this same situation among owners of this same vehicle. I have read that some part of the visor is defective and has been redesigned. This is an unsafe situation which Toyota has, in my opinion, admitted there is a problem. I resent having to spend the money to replace this part myself but I will have to. I hope I can before something happens.
