Water pump developed a slow leak and had to be replaced. It is crazy that the water pump fails at 56k!

Camry Hybrid Hybrid

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,038 miles

I replaced my water pump in August, 2013 at 56k miles. That OEM pump lasted only 14 months and 9k miles before it failed. I then had to replace it AGAIN at 65K miles. Toyota parts are garbage!

Camry Hybrid LE 2.4L

  • CVT transmission
  • 90,000 miles

Toyota has avalanche of water pump failures for that year. Not all are replaced under warranty, as sometimes it fails after warranty. At toyotanation Camry Hybrid forum, pretty much everyone had water pump fail and replaced anywhere between 40 and 70 000 miles. As far as I know, it goes for both HYbrid and standard versions of Camry, as they are sharing same engine.

At that forum, users that do NOT have that done are looked at like some special chosen ones.
