Camry Hybrid

  • Automatic transmission
  • 159,000 miles

I bought this car new, 2008 Camry Hybrid, I have replaced 4 door actuators so far and now this will be the 5th. How can that many door actuators burn up. My car is garaged and I live in GA so no extreme temps. So now I will be some 1,800.00 + dollars replacing the door lock. THIS IS CRAP!

I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL BY TOYOTA. FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING ON MANY SIGHTS IS THAT THIS PROBLEM ESPECIALLY IN/ON THE 07 AND 08 MODELS IS THAT THE ACTUATORS NOT ONLY FAIL, BUT MANY FAIL BY ONE DOOR AT A TIME, AND WE STARTED THE SAME ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, THEN THE 2ND WENT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR, THANKFULLY YOU COULD 'THEN' GET IN BY KEY. A FEW MONTHS LATER AND YESTERDAY WE LOST THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR ON THE CAR. NOW WE DONT KNOW WHEN THE LAST DOOR WILL GO AND IT'S GOING TO, HOWEVER THE KEY TO THE DRIVERS DOOR IS STARTING TO GIVE US SERIOUS TROUBLE GETTING IN. WHAT IF WE ARE OUT AT NIGHT AND THE KEY DECIDES IT DOESN'T WANT TO WORK AT ALL? THE KEY GETS STUCK AND IF YOU TURN TO HARD AS WELL WE ARE AFRAID OF BREAKING THE KEY, THEN WE ARE SCREWED AS THERE THEN WE WOULD HAVE "NO" WAY TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE, THEN WHAT?. MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF ARE MIDDLE INCOME, WHICH IN NY MEANS ALMOST POOR. THIS ACTUATOR ISSUE HAS TO BE A DEFECT, AS WHY WOULD PRETTY MUCH ALL OF THEM GO AT ONCE EXCEPT ONE? I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND TOYOTA I KNOW IS VERY AWARE OF THIS, THESE ARE DEFECTS THAT NEED REPLACING. TOYOTA CUSTOMERS PLEASE STAND UP AND SHOW THEM THAT"WE" NEED TO BE TOLD.
