The mileage is advertised at 38 mpg on highway and 41 mpg in town. I am averaging, at best, between 27-30.9 mpg. Hardly worth buying a hybrid for. Very disappointed in this mileage. I paid premium dollars and gave up trunk space for a gas mileage benefit I am not receiving.
If the mileage was reported truthfully, I would NOT have purchased this car!

I trusted Toyota and bought it believing that I would get more than 40 mpg in the city, because, well, it is TOYOTA. But I feel betrayed because I get only 20-31 mpg in city driving. Unbelievable! My friend has bought Honda Accord Hybrid, he gets 50 mpg. How I wish I had not trusted Toyota. The seat, ride quality all are horrible too. Your body feels even the tiniest bumps on the road. I contacted the dealer and Toyota itself. They said they can't do anything about it. I hope the problem is only with few cars. I truly believe that the battery may not be charging properly. But Toyota is unwilling to look into it. If anybody else has similar issues, let me know, that way we can seek class action.
