Camry Hybrid XLE 2.5L 4

  • CVT transmission
  • 300 miles

I have discussed the problem numerous times with our dealer and have called Toyota at 800-331-4331. I spoke with someone named John and carefully explained that not only is this our second Toyota Hybrid, but we also own a Ford Fusion Energi Hybrid that is driven EXACTLY the same places and the same way. The difference? The Ford only needs to about half a tank of gas every three months the Cary needs gas often. The Ford gets between 88 and 100 mpge and the Camry gets around 30 to 35 mpg tops! Toyota's official position? We just print what the EPA estimates and don't stand behind the claims! I see posts from other Camry hybrid owners of high mileage, but cannot help but wonder if they are just going buy the onboard computer guestimate which is always high. I.E. the onboard computer claims up to around 45 mpg. When actually measured at fill up, this number is always in the 30 to 34 mpg range. The bottom line is, if you want really good mileage that the manufacturer will stand behind, the Camry is NOT the car you want to buy!
