I'm so frustrated and disappointed. My check engine light went on and, shortly thereafter I began hearing a knocking noise in my engine. Toyota said that I must have run it without oil, which is B.S. because I change it EVERY 3,000 miles like clockwork. I've been told to sell it because I obviously need a new engine. I've had nothing but problems with this car. My tranny went out at 36,000 and now I have to replace the engine. I came to this site and found that I'm not the only one with these problems. I can't believe it! Does anyone have any advice for me, besides selling it? Do I actually need a new engine or do I just need to replace the spark plugs?

I bought a toyota because they are supposed to be such reliable well built cars. My celica has 60000 miles and needs to have the engine rebuilt. I have had problems "losing" oil for a couple of years. While under warranty, and shortly after I took my car to toyota and wanted to know why I was going through so much oil. They claimed nothing was wrong and they couldn't find out why. A couple of months ago, my check engine light came on. Diagnostic tests showed there was a misfire. I had my plugs changed only to find the light on again five miles down the road. The same cylinder keeps frying my spark plugs leaving us to believe I need new rings. I am disgusted with the car and with the service I have gotten with toyota. I will never buy another toyota again. Absolutely unacceptable.

Engine making knocking sounds again, second time and not even 3000 miles from the last time. I was driving on the interstate and notice the check engine light on. I go off shortly after and got to an intersection and had to stop and the dumb car stalled. I took it into Toyota and finds out #4 spark plug is fried. #2 & #4 pistons are scorched and the timing is off. I dont know how the hell this one happened after just driving down the interstate. Toyota is saying it doesnt deal with the last time, the motor was rebuilt, and im not sure whos paying for this one. If I HAVE TOO.... THIS CAR IS A PILE AND IT IS GETTING SOLD BACK TO THEM!!!!

Im driving to the lakefront to hangout with my friends, as im driving i hear a loud knocking sound coming from my engine bay. I took it into toyota, were they started pointing the finger at me for not changing the oil. Finds out they look at record and see i have been taking it to have my oil change every 3000-4000 miles. Then they fixed it and said to me that, i race the motor. I have nothing on the motor. They said I must have brought it up to high rpms, and i bet this car. F*ck them I dont. Once in a while i might miss shift and bring it up, but catch myself and push the clutch in. but never redline it. Theres something called a rev limiter on the car to prevent stuff like that and i somehow get past that. Whatever, This car is crap, Toyota built crap.
