Noticed problems with the car sliding as soon as the tires started showing any type of wear.
Late summer (Goodyear tires with 85% tread) we started noticing that the brakes would completely lock up with any kind of sudden stop...sending the car into a slide. When it would go into a slide, I would swear the car gained momentum. It almost felt like you were being flung. It even happened on dry, hot pavement.
We were driving after a very light rain in slow traffic (thank goodness it was SLOW) and the truck in front of us stopped abruptly. We had MORE than enough stopping room. Nope...went into a slide and shot like a rocket right under that truck. Pumping the brakes and turning the wheel did nothing. The front of the car is totaled....crunched in like butter. I shutter to imagine what could have happened if we were going any faster.
It's our fault for not being informed enough about our car. Had I known that it wasn't equipped with anti-lock brakes, we would not have owned it. - On the other side of the dime...I've driven many cars in my time that didn't come with anti-lock brakes and I've never felt a car slide on pavement like this one did.
If you search the internet you will see that a lot of people have had front end collisions with this make and model similar to what happened to us.
