Corolla VE 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

The 3 speed transmission went out In My 1999 VE. I Replaced it 3 times with 3 different used transmissions. Two of the transmissions were bad when we received them, So much for ordering on the net...we paid for the extended warranty in case it was bad It would cover the cost of a mechanic putting another tranny in if it was bad, well it was!

Oops I didn't read the fine print,IT HAD TO HAVE 50 MILES ON IT BEFORE THEY WOULD HONOR THE WARRANTY IT ONLY MADE IT 38 MILES .. same problem TRANNY WENT OUT! SECOND TRANNY SENT was cracked so they sent the 3rd and final transmission ! It lasted for 1yr 2mos the warranty was for 1yr . So here I am again In need of another transmission.

So far we have paid over $2,000 out of pocket and still have a broke down 1999 Corolla..(-Toyota changed the Transmission to a Four Speed Automatic half way thru the year in 1999 ). Does anyone know if the reason is because the 3 speed transmission locks up and dies??? This car only has 130,000 miles on it been well maintained ! Our 89 Toyota truck is still going strong!! So is our 1997 4 Runner..
