Corolla LE 1.8L 1zzfe

  • Automatic transmission
  • 163,000 miles

This car started using oil around 80.000 miles and then as it neared the oil change mark of 3000 miles even after adding a quart a month it would get a knock in the engine the piece of crap finally went. It is knocking like a well is being pounded, started it up it had a little tap as driving and never romping on the damn thing it started to get worse and worse and worse, Toyota has so many complaints out there about this engine and yet they don't do anything! There was a time they recalled every Tacoma and put a new engine in them i remember this my friend had the problem, They should be doing the same thing for this car, Obviously this is a big issue and it should be looked into further, I Dont want to buy another used engine because with all the problems in all of them it seems like it will only happen again, We had a 82 Tercel that was a run around car for running to our house up north and beating the piss out of that had over 350,000 miles on it and it NEVER HAD A PROBLEM with that sucker, I under stand this car is out of warranty but it was maintained by them it was consistently taken care of and never abused and yet this car was the biggest piece of junk we ever purchased and it was bought new! Will never own another toyota again, If this isn't taken care of, Another company the does not stand behind their products. Similar problem happened to the Pontiac we own and after finding out that this car was assembled next to its cousin the Prizm in California i'm wondering if it is due to GM design influence. Id rather deal with Ford, Never had a problem with any of our Fords that wasn't routine maintenance or regular wear and tear!

Corolla CE 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 105,000 miles

I bought a Corolla because it is supposed to be the million mile car then I end up taking it to the shop at 105000 miles and they tell me I need a new engine because it is in the process of throwing a rod.

Corolla

  • 31,000 miles

Engine makes loud noise, smoke, oil light came on, engine finally cut off. Dealership will not even look at the car, even though it is under warranty, because they want receipts for all oil changes done on the car first. We can produce oil change info., but we suspect that Toyota is going to try and waffle out of admitting that the car had something major wrong with the car from the beginning. Never will buy another Toyota.
