Starting the car up in the morning, would get to the head of the driveway, stop, look both ways, press the accelerator, and the car would stall. Got going agin, pressed the accelerator slowly, and the car would stall. Once going, I'd have to gently toggle the accelerator back and forth, and NOT press too hard otherwise......you get it. Check engine light was always on.
Two mechanics were stumped. One thought it was the gas filter, but this car doesn't have a gas filter (A permanent filter is built into the line) New mechanic finally said it was the mass air flow sensor. $140 new he said or buy one at a salvage yard. I bought one on eBay for $40. He popped it in - no problem. It's like a new....well, a DIFFERENT car!
A quick search on the web will show that this is another common problem with these Corollas. This and the oil burinng issue (see my other complaint) But again, I'm planning on driving this car into the ground, until my kid gets out of college......

Sometimes while driving if i push the accelerator pedal the car gets slow in between. It seems as car is not picking up speed . It usually happens when i run my car after a signal stop.. like if I stop on red light and on green i start for few seconds even if i push the accelerator car doesn't speed up
