Takata recall: I did not receive a recall notice about my airbags and I'm trying to find out if my car was ever recalled for defective airbags. Toyota will only tell me if the car is under a recall presently. If it ever was, the notice might have been sent to the previous owner that I bought the car from in 2001. If there ever was a recall on the airbags, doesn't Toyota still need to replace them??

The contact owns a 2000 Toyota Corolla. The contact received a notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15V286000 (air bags) however, the recall part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The contact owns a 2000 Toyota Corolla. During a crash at 15 mph, the air bags failed to deploy and the seat belts malfunctioned. A police report was filed. Due to the lack of restraint by the seat belt, the contact severely injured her ribs and had to be hospitalized for two days. The contact called the sales dealer and they were not cooperative. The current and failure mileages were 70,000. Updated 04/28/08.
