Clear coat has been slowly peeling off for the last year. Started as a mall spot on the trunk now its sprawled out to the top and hood.

This car was picture perfect when I bought it in 2010. Paint looked great so did the headlights, but now this oxidation on both. I'm trying to find out if Toyota had recalls on either. Any help out there?

I contacted Toyota, I posted on TOYOTA USA on Facebook, and I asked at our local Toyota dealership. Zlich, nada, waste of time. The only satisfaction was seeing other owners when I Googled the problem. It appears blue cars, mostly Corollas, from 2003-2006 have experienced this same problem. I had to laugh when I read a response to someone's post showing EXACTLY what my roof shows. The responder said it was a roof rack, ties, a disgruntled neighbor, etc. Honestly, that's what my car looks like. Neither of us has a roof rack, no one purposely scratched the roof.
There's no explanation but defective paint from the get go. I wonder if the roof is painted separate from the hood, trunk, doors, etc. No other party of my car shows signs of rust, bubbles, or the like. One gal was looking to begin a class action suit but, that didn't appear to go anywhere a few years ago when she posted. What does it take for Toyota to accept responsibility and make good on repainting the roof. The cheapest estimate I've got was $500.
Open to suggestions. I am thinking of contacting 7 On Your Side or any TV news show that will expose this. Thanks.
