Corolla CE 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 110,000 miles

I've never had a problem with my Corolla. I always call it the car I never wanted, but always treated me right. Then the check engine light went on right as the inspection was due. Now it won't pass inspection until the light goes off. In order to do that, I have to have the entire transmission rebuilt due to the code (P0741) due to the "Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance". I went to 2 mechanics and they quoted me about $2,000. That's pretty much a down payment on a new car. I hate to get rid of the car, but I'm going to need one to get to and from work. Sad part is the car still runs fine. I don't have a single issue with the transmission at all, with the only exception of this damned engine light. It's annoying and heartbreaking.
