The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Corolla. The contact stated that when depressing the brake at 50 mph or above, the vehicle would shake violently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where they advised that there were no failures found within the brakes and had at least ten months of use before needing replacement. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

I am 76 years old. Own 2005 Toyota Corolla with 30K miles. Took my car to dealershipfor routine servicing and oil change. Was told I had brake fluid contamination and it would cost $2200. The 2005 Toyota avalon and highlanders were recalled for brake fluid leaks. Could it be possible my car had the same problem?

When I speeded up and pressed gas from 30 to 55 mile per hour at the freeway, I found the car in front of me suddenly slowed down. I was at 55 mile per hour when I found it and tried to press the brake hardly. However, the brake couldn't be pressed hardly and the car could not be stopped as soon as possible. The car slowed down slowly and hit the car in front of me, even though I tried to press the brake hardly. The brake didn't work well when the car is in the process of speeding up from low speed to high speed at the freeway.

Coming to a stop while applying the brakes, I first felt resistance from the brake pedal then nothing. At the same time, the car began to accelerate without stepping on the gas pedal. This happened twice in a 10 day period.

I was driving on the interstate at around 65 mph. They were closing the right lane for road work, leading everyone to merge into one lane. I applied my brakes and they locked up. As I was moving forward and slowing down as everyone was slowing because of the merging (however, this wasn't happening smoothly, as I was skidding instead of simply decelerating), I was rear ended by a car traveling at full speed (approx 65 mph). The force of the impact hit me into grass median on the left side of the highway. While stopped for mere seconds, I had not even put the car into park yet, my car started rolling down the median's embankment, through the woods while my foot was still on the brake. I kept pressing the brake and it was not responding. I hit a tree after rolling approx 100 feet into the woods. A Toyota dealer is currently doing the repairs, and told me that the brakes were in fact working when driving it around the shop at slow speeds. I feel like no one believes me, nor is even offering an explanation on how this could even happen.

2005 Corolla le purchased in Sept 2005. Was going home today from work. I was driving slow (thx god) because of traffic. When I tried to slow down when seeing a car in front on me, the brakes won't respond. I pushed the brakes couple times but it won't slow down. So I rear ended a truck. My car front end is in pretty bad shape but since it wasn't at a high speed the frame seems to be ok. Of course the truck infront of me barely has a scratch.

2005 Toyota Corolla L.S. I have been informing at least 3 dealers that the brakes seem problematic. The squeaking' was continuous since purchase, and after service[S] now the squeaking stopped, yet excessive brake dust comes on the front hubcaps. When I tell Toyota about it... they said, well you have rebuilt brakes." Not so... never did that to this car." I have a Toyota Corolla 2005 model purchased in Oct. 2004. I was going to work one morning, pulling into the parking garage, I coasted up the incline til I slowed, tapped the accelerator to give it a push, and the car surged forward, not just a little, a lot! I tried to stop but only went faster, smashing into the concrete wall ahead of me, too fast to make the turn. My cars front end sustained $5000 in damages, undrivable. Was in the shop for over a month. I was apprehensive about driving for a long time, only parked on the street with plenty of room. The accelerator still surges, but I've acclimated to the handling of the car to avoid other accidents, still a couple of times have been close. Anyway, this was mentioned to my service dept at Toyota and was told there were no reports of problems of this nature, that was in 2006.

I was driving my 2005 Toyota Corolla when it went out of control and didnt want to stop. I was unable to stop the car when applying the brakes. I crashed into a walgreens store. The car was towed to an auto body shop and repaired. The insurance company wanted to have the car inspected by Toyota, for defects, however I was told I would have to pay for the towing and the inspection. I declined.

I was driving from santa maria to my job in lompoc California when my accelerator jumped and speeded up to 85mph I applied my brakes but nothing seems to work I lost control of my vehicle and I started spinning and right before the car was about to go off the freeway I managed to get control of the car back and come to a stop, I was terrified I thought I was going to die. It was upsetting to see how my accelerator just was out of control. I was so afraid after the accident that I took my car to the Toyota dealership where they checked it and the mechanics couldn't find any problems. I don't trust my car's accelerator anymore after that horrifying incident I think Toyota should do something to solve this huge life threatening problem I could have lost my life.

While traveling at 35mph on a 50mph roadway, anticipating to stop or steer off the roadway, my 2005 Toyota Corolla brakes and steering failed despite repeated attempts to stop or steer the vehicle to the soft shoulder to avoid rear ending the vehicle stopped ahead of me. Once I applied my brakes, the steering mechanism became non responsive as though both brakes and steering failed. I watched my vehicle continued on its forward trajectory until it slammed into the rear of the vehicle at the red light. In addition, one would have expected the air bag on this vehicle to deploy at impact at this speed. To my surprise and that of the investigating officer from tampa police department, the air bag did not deploy. Luckily, I was the only one in the vehicle as neither the driver's air bag nor the passenger air bag deployed.

I own a 2005 Toyota Corolla. While it is 5 years old it only has 10,530 miles on it and less when the first event occurred. Last fall after idling for a few minutes I backed out of a driveway and the car began to speed up. I immediately slammed on the brakes. I couldn't figure out what happened and assumed it was somehow my fault. I had a friend with me who witnessed the whole incident. Then it happened again in my parking garage. Slow speed again but moving forward. I had heard about the floor pads and mine was loose so I removed it. Then it happened again, in January--the day the jets lost the championship(it was before the game and no alcohol) again I was maneuvering in my sister's drive way and almost ended up in her den.

My Toyota Corolla 2005 cars brakes has always made a noise. Finally on 4-16-09 the car tires was very hot and smoking. The next day contacted gates Toyota, South bend, in. And had it towed in. The mounting disc brakes, disc brake calipers, pad kit, holders had to be replaced. Gates said that Toyota knew they had defective parts but they never do recalls so cost us $969.27 to have fixed even though we had the extended coverage. Help us get our money back from when we bought the car the brakes sometimes acted up an like skipped and than would grab, and made noises, but was always told that was that type of brakes. Could not get them to fix it.

The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Corolla. While driving between 1-65 mph, the brakes lock up. When the accelerator pedal is released, it feels as if the brake pedal is being depressed. The contact has taken the vehicle to a mechanic on four occasions. He also stated that the driver side front tire began smoking and was very hot. The rotors were turned and then replaced. The mechanic was able to duplicate the failure once and stated that the rubber brake hose was deteriorated. The rubber brake hose was replaced, but this did not correct the failure. The current mileage was 124,000 and failure mileage was 111,000. Updated 01/29/08 the consumer stated the left front rotor and pads were replaced again. Updated
