It was windy on January 24, 2011 I was on a highway headed to great falls, Montana when right outside of havre, Montana a semi-truck driver hauling a load drove by me and a rock hit my car. I pulled over in havre, no rock chips on my windshield of the body. I opened the hood and on my A/C condenser was a dent. I thought it would be okay. But, since then my car leaks fluid in the front where the condenser is. There is nothing protecting the condenser from any rocks, etc. I have not driven the car. My brother is a mechanic and said it should be looked at by Toyota. I read about the tsb AC002-06. And am demanding Toyota fix the condenser and fix the gap so my car will be protected from this happening again. Also, I took my Toyota for the last recall to havre, mt I do not want to go there anymore. I had a 12:30 P.M. appointment instead they took a woman who walked in after us in first. I was upset she didn't have to wait and we drove 3 hours to get there. Thank you..

I have what would seem like a safety issue. The A/C condenser on my 2005 Toyota Corolla failed, after researching the issue Toyota has issued a technical service bulletin indicating that the A/C condenser is not properly protected the number for this report is AC002-06. I live in South Texas and this issue is a know problem but nothing has been done.

The air conditioning condenser is mounted in front of the radiator and is not protected from road debris in any measure. Once hit by a small rock or similar item the condenser has to be replaced for about $600. A service bulletin issued by Toyota advises installation of a deflector shield which comes with the replacement condenser from the dealer. Simple correction of this problem is installation of a deflector shield before the problem arises. Air conditioning is a possible hazard in hotter areas of our country as will as the condenser does not work when using defrost or defogging on the windshield which is a sight hazard. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

I got my car in 2005 and I has nothing but 30 thousand miles, when I got it ran well and still does. The air conditioning works for 20 minutes then turns off and turns back on and from what I hear im not the only one. When I say it turns off I mean it blows lukewarm. I think Toyota needs to do a recall because this is ridiculous on a fairly new car!

Vehicle air conditioner stopped working. Toyota dealer diagnosed problem as A/C condenser must have been hit by a rock. Cost to replace is $770. The vehicle has no protective covers to prevent this from happening. Toyota has now placed protective covers on later model vehicles to prevent this problem from happening in the future.

This complaint is based on two instances of my Corollas condenser breaking down because of rocks hitting it while driving. Last year my wife asked me to look at the ac of our Corolla as the ac was not blowing cold air. She took it to the totoya dealer in duncanville, tx and they told us that the condenser was not covered and we had to pay $600 to fix. We chose to buy the condenser elsewhere and to install it myself. Now a about a year later, we ran out of cold air again. I did not think it was the condenser. What is the likelihood that a replaced new condenser goes bad. We went to auto zone to get a recharge kit and sealer. After applying them there still was no cold air and their is a visible leak on the front region where the first condenser also suffered damage. Searching for replacements on the internet I came across several people that had the same problem and no solution from Toyota other than to pay to replace the condenser. Toyota even admits this in technical service bulletin AC002-06 "lower grille mesh protection cover." In the intro it reads some customers may experience damage to the A/C condenser if the vehicle is used regularly. I do not believe I should have to pay for something they should have fixed so I don't have to replace my condenser every year or maybe more frequently. They should pay to repair my damage and to install the cover to protect it from now on. Our is Corolla 2005.

A/C condenser failure. Design failure. Had to replace unit twice before I made my own shield.. no help from dealer. You would think that if they had a defective design and fixed it on the next years model that they would take care of any prior complaints.. just shows that service and customer retention is not part of their creed. Radiator failure (83K) followed almost immediately after by air conditioning condenser failure. Crack in radiator -- looked like a defective part to a steel expert who saw the radiator.
