Corolla CE 1.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 67,729 miles

Bought this car used, but it was well-taken care of, however, there was the ECM issue, which was replaced, but I feel that must have been the underlying precursor that lead to the transmission to eventually fail. There wasn't any warning or issue, I stopped and tried to reverse only to have a complete failure and loss of transmission function.

It's a shame that Toyota uses faulty and flawed components in their vehicles. This, car was serving me well, and there's no other reason that a vehicle with such low mileage would have failed had it not been a low quality piece of crap from the start. It just goes to show, no matter how well you take care of things, if they are designed and made poorly, there's nothing you can do. Lesson learned, I'll never buy another Crapola.

Corolla LE

  • Manual transmission
  • 175,000 miles

The clutch and transmission entirely broke in our Corolla after ten years. Pressing the accelerator and then releasing the clutch results in loud noises, jerkiness and about 5mph acceleration which is quite bad a stoplight. Entire transmission had to be replaced, a costly and time consuming repair, has to go without car for over a day.
