embarrassed. The clear coat over the paint on my 2006 Toyota corolla is peeling off, and it looks terrible, I am embarrassed to drive it. The neighbors have the exact same car year and color and theirs is also peeling. I have noticed other Toyota corollas around town and they have the same issue. I am a long time Toyota customer and I am very disappointed in the quality of the paint job on this vehicle. None of my other Toyota's have ever had this problem. It is obviously a Toyota issue and I think they should repair it. I would like to have a new paint job or a new clear coat if that would fix the problem. I will not be purchasing another Toyota unless they can provide customer satisfaction regarding this problem. In addition I was talking with my neighbor about their car and they won't be purchasing any other Toyota cars either.

Great car with the exception of the paint. Completely wore off the roof.

My paint randomly began to peel off and the body of the car was rusting on my roof and my trunk. As a college student trying to pay for rent and tuition, I don't have the money to get a paint job. I didn't know much about cars, so I went to a car shop and the guy who saw it was perplexed: said he'd never seen a car with this paint issue before. Said it went beyond normal wear and tear or even if you never wash it or live next to the beach. At that point I was frustrated because it clearly wasn't my fault, and I couldn't afford a real paint job, so my brother helped me sand it down and we used car spray paint which hasn't really staved off the problem, and now my trunk is getting worse. My car looks absolutely terrible. At this point, I notice any other 2006 Corolla, specifically in blue, and I have yet to see one on the road that DOESN'T have this problem. This is clearly a Toyota issue and it's very shady that they aren't recalling it or doing anything about it. Now I drive around with a terrible looking car, which never fails to get commented on. This needs to be recalled.

all I have to say is its my 77 yr old moms car and the paint literaly started getting thinner and thinner on the roof and trunk, then it started surface rusting, the car still has less than 35,000 mi on it, she couldn't stand looking at it any longer so I had it painted at maaco that cost 692.57 and I think I SHOULD BE REIMURSED, I have a receipt for it ,I just need to know who to contact for this situation, ITS NOT RIGHT that the paint just came off like it did, my mom payed for a car that the paint should still look good, I own a 2000 ford and a2004 Dodge and the paint is fine on them!

the entire roof and trunk is rusted
My car is chipping and extremely rusted. It started on the back trunk. I have washed and waxed my car and it still does not stop the problem. In the last 2 to 3 years it has gotten worse. I have seen other toyotas that are the same color as mine with the same rusting on them. This can not be a coincidence. I think Toyota should be responsible for this problem. Obviously they used a cheap kind of paint or coating. Please help.

My 2006 Toyota Corolla paint job is a total mess. I am embarrassed to drive and park this car anywhere. I think Toyota should be responsible for correcting this issue as it reduces trade-in/resale value greatly. I have come across the following web site where Toyota faces a class suit over Lexus paint problems. Can not Corolla owners do same?

I bought this car in silver back in 2006, and now the paint job has been falling apart. The roof has been fading to white, and the paint on the hood has been peeling right off the metal itself, making it look scaly and awful. I have a Honda that's more than twice as old as this one and the paint on it still looks just fine after all these years. A repaint from body shops would cost thousands of dollars that I can't afford. I'm never buying from Toyota again after this as long as I can help it.

I bought my Corolla New in 2005. The paint started chipping around the 3 year Mark. Now the entire roof is rusty and the hood paint is chipped down to the Prime. It looks awful although my car runs good and the interior looks fine. The crazy part is I'll see other blue Toyotas on the highway with the same exact look. I'm pretty sure something was wrong with the paint. Other cars the same age don't look like buckets.

I love the reliability of my little go'rolla, but the peeling clear coat is DRIVING ME NUTS. I took my car to an several body shops and got quotes for "stopping the problem," by which they meant sanding the peeling paint and using a spray can of clear sealant to try to stop the peeling, but they all said that my only real solution was to get a new paint job. New paint jobs are expensive, and this is not a new car. I am very disappointed.

The paint on top of the roof of the car looks horrible. I have maintained this car every two weeks for the life of the car, with washing, waxing, detailing, etc. So to "see" the car take a nose dive in looks is just awful. The paint is completely separating, peeling thru to the primer. I'm mortified. Cost for the roof alone $650.00 by a very reputable body shop....I don't have that kind of money just lying around. I just graduated from college.....I have a family, a job, and I'm flabbergasted at the "idea" that others have had this issue with their Toyota as well.

I faithfully wash my car. My hood is all chipped and my roof is peeling clear coat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The bumpers(plastic) are faded red almost pink! UGH!!!! The interior of my car is in good condition. I would not get anything for this car if I traded it in!!!

I've owned several Toyota's and have loved them all, Tacoma, Supra, Celica and the Corolla is the only one that I have been so disappointed with, because I hate walking out and seeing how embarrassing it looks, I am so frustrated and irritated that the paint began chipping, oxidizing and fading shortly after the warranty expired, I always took care of my car and it is obviously a defective paint job. There is another blue corolla, same year in my area and the paint on the roof is the same thing. I no longer want the car, but I would still have to paint it before I can sell it or trade it in, otherwise, It is depreciating the value of the vehicle. Toyota offered me a discount of $750.00 on a purchase of a new Toyota vehicle which was a joke, because they'll knock off triple that amount for the trade-in. It sucks, because they are dependable cars, my truck had over 300,000 miles on it before I got rid of it, the Supra was an amazing car and I wish I never got rid of my Celica for this Corolla. Lesson learned and of course I'll move on to Honda in the future, I just hate to lose so much on a trade in when Toyota F***ed up.

I have had my 2006 Toyota Corolla for less than 2 years now. It runs great, however, I got suckered into special deals when I bought the car. What can I say, I'm naive. I bought "The Protector" which is basically a costly cleaning solution for your car that YOU have to put on. Wow, great thing I have a hose... not. Anyway, I guess from not using "The Protector", the paint on the hood of my car is chipping off A LOT. I think it is due to a sh*tty paint job on the hood. I can understand a few chips due to rocks and gravel, but unless I'm driving behind a truck spitting gravel at me every day or off-roading, it seems unlikely. I'm taking the car to the dealership next week to have their paint guy look at it. Let's pray it will be covered under my new car warranty....ha...

The paint on the roof is chipping severely. Noticed it when it started to happen months ago. I thought it was just because I may have sat something on top of the roof, but overtime I saw that there were patterns that matched the chipping/scratches. It's weird because you can see that it only happened to the roof of the car and nowhere else noticeable. Then I started to notice Corollas on the road like mine and saw the same thing. It is embarrassing.
