Driving on the freeway, my car engine shut-off and breaks locked. Car will not start on the move so I have to bring it to a stop. The process of transitioning lanes without breaks was very scary. After the car was brought to a full stop the car was able to start.

This issue has been on going for over 2 years; the engine reves up when starting the car, RPM goes into the red on the gauge & continues to go up & down for the first 30 minutes or so, while driving.the codes say it is an emissions issue/ charcoal canister, according to what I've researched. I took the car in for the ECU recall as instructed by the letter received. I was not experiencing any of these issues prior to the recall replacement?? I took the car to the dealership for a scheduled oil change and explained to the services person, I was told the emissions was fine, but they would be happy to run a diagnostic on it for $200, I have noticed that many other are having issues with the same codes/ emissions issues. Could you please help me with this, I don't know where or who to turn to from here. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon. I would like to send a video of what is happening, but there isn't an option for videos. If you need to see the issue live on video, I would be happy to send it to you another way. You can each me at [xxx] or [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Engine cuts out under acceleration. On hotter that 80 degree days it will not run up over 3000 rpms. Cuts out and will not accelerate to speed unless very slowly accelerating. Have had to dealer and they tell me it's the ECM, but years ago that was replaced under a recall for the same reason. 'supposedly'. I'm thinking either the work was not performed or the replacement units are faulty as well.

Toyota has issued a technical service bulletin indicating that the A/C condenser is not properly protected the number for this report is AC002-06. However, Toyota has redesigned the Corolla to correct this in 2007 by properly protecting the A/C condenser leaving the 2005-2006 customers in the dust. Toyota Corolla air conditioning problems all models 2005-2006. I own a 2006 Toyota Corolla ce and my A/C has been failing for the past 10 years, now I need help and get total replacement of the A/C condenser and full protection.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Corolla. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15V285000 (air bags) and the dealer indicated that it might be longer than six months to schedule the recall repair appointment. The parts were not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the repair and the manufacturer as well as the dealer were unable to determine when the vehicle would be scheduled for repairs. The contact was also included in NHTSA campaign number: 10V384000 (engine and engine cooling) and was to determine when that repair may be scheduled also. The contact was not experiencing a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Took car to dealership regarding air bags, electrical, and engine feeling hot. Check engine light was on....I did not have money for the diagnostic nor the maintenance they suggested.. around $1500. I assumed they checked the airbags, but thought it odd that they did not give me any paperwork. They said everything was fine.

I was westbound on broward blvd. In broward county, Florida in stop and go traffic, when the car surged and rear ended another vehicle. Both occupants in the other vehicle were injured. Two other incidents of this nature have happened. One about four years ago in 2011 and one about two weeks ago during the first week of May 2015. Also, there has been numerous times that accelerator paddle seems to depress by it self speeding up the vehicle. I became aware of a pending investigating the dot NHTSA is conducting under case dp-14-003, opened on 09/19/14, by investigator stephen mchenry about low speed surging involving my year vehicle.

I was driving my car home from work. Suddenly the car won't move forward and on the dashboard all the lights keeps light up and blinking and the car gradually died on the road. It's so dangerous. I see emc is listed recall but I don't receive any letter from dealer to fix its problem. Please let me know with VIN number above is on the list of recall. I have checked the alternator, it works ok and the battery is ok (just replace a few months ago). If it is recall, should I bring it to dealer to fix it even I didn't receive their letter.

I was driving my Toyota had just left my house and I turned the corner and just after I turned the corner the car shut off completely. I steered to move from middle of road so it restarted and I drove about 20 ft turned a corner to park the car and it shut off again. I then noticed smoke coming from under the hood. A minute or two later I'm on the phone w fire department cause my car was in flames. After fire was put out by fire dept the firefighter said the car is a total loss and I only had liability. They towed to a salvage yard and I was told by firefighter cause of fire is unknown, possibly something electrical may have shorted he was not sure. Two days later, I see a safety recall for my car on the news was announced for possible fire in engine compartment.

I was backing up out of a parking space, stopped and put car in drive position, and 2006 Toyota Corolla accelerated to a high speed, engine roared. I put my foot on brake immediately, shut off engine and pulled emergency brake. Lights on dashboard were lit, and I had no power steering. Car bolted forward and hit the back of a parked truck which stopped my vehicle. My daughter was in the passenger side and experienced this horrible event. I was bringing her home from an operation on her arm. Needless to say, we were both terrified. Had car towed to the Toyota garage. The service manager said he couldn't touch the car due to protocol, and gave me the 800 # for Toyota. That was on a Monday and on Friday I had to get my own rental car as I had not heard from Toyota in regard to a rental car.

  • 51,000 miles
I backed my 2006 Toyota Corolla into a friend's driveway, and then put the car into drive to straighten it a bit. The car suddenly without warning shot across the street (perhaps at 45-50 mph), went over a 6" high cement retaining curbing, and across a lawn into another driveway. All the while I had my foot firmly on the brake (not the gas pedal). I swerved the wheel to avoid hitting a telephone pole, and the house. I finally got the car into neutral, and at last the brakes engaged, and I was able to stop the car avoiding a pick-up truck in the driveway and a tree. During this entire time the engine was loudly revving. Other than 3 shredded tires and 2 ruined rims, the car seems to be intact. I have contacted Toyota and hope for a successful resolution. The service manager at the dealership where this vehicle was purchased, however, said that since it is not under recall there is nothing they can do. Meanwhile I will be fearful every time I get behind the wheel, which I have yet to do! 3 new tires and 2 new rims is a small price to pay - it could have been my life! had cars been passing by on this normally busy street, or children walking on the sidewalk on their way home from school - other lives as well could have been taken..this was a terrifying event! judging from all of the similar stories written regarding this make, model and year, Toyota needs to do a recall to solve this problem once and for all.
