problem #3

Dec 302007

Corolla

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100 miles

I bought the 08 Corolla new in Dec of 07 and since day one it has made a noise that sounds like it is coming from the center of the dash, but only at highway speeds. Noise seems to be a grinding or rubbing sound. Initially it was a faint sound barely audible and very infrequent, over time it has progressed to high frequency (nearly every time I on going over 60) and extremely loud now. I have taken it into dealership for this a few times. After leaving it with them for several days, they decided to reseal the windshield, however this did absolutely noghing for the problem. When I report that it is steal there and getting worse, they have no response, as they dont know what it is or so they say. I am getting rid of the car at this point as it is almost out of warranty. This is my 5th Toyota but now it will be my last.

Corolla CE

  • Automatic transmission

Not sure what could cause this noise...tried turning the radio on & off...tried turning wipers on & off the noise only happens at speeds greater than 60 mpg. The sound of the noise is something like a fan belt squeal.

Corolla CE 1.8L

  • Manual transmission

I have a buzzzing noise in the dash when driving at highway speeds. It comes every so often then goes away, it sounds like it may be a relay chattering or a speedometer cable that is dry, but I think the speedometer is electric not cable driven. Anyone else with the same trouble please let me know if you have a solution.
