Most cars I have owned brake boosters lasted past 250k or more since I rarely brake and use the engine to brake. The previous owner must have spent loads of time in traffic. In any case, if you hear a hissing sound from your brake pedal you need to replace the brake booster, this is a dangerous issue due to losing breaks or stalling because of vacuum loss. Having to break with the emergency break is not good driving in the city.
You can also check thru obd2 device and check the fuel trims if running lean then disconnect the air line to the brake booster to see if trims get better.
Toyota did nothing wrong or maybe they did... older car(s) parts seem more bullet proof than today's parts. The auto industries new "auto industry planned obsolescence strategy to make up their losses from sales"... needs to be removed and they need to go back and make quality strong durable parts that somebody can drive 500k with.
