Since the car was new, we were getting poor gas mileage. The first time we took it to the dealer we were told that after 5000 miles the mpg would increase, which sounded as hogwash to me, but I waited to pass 5000 miles and still all we get is 19 to 21 mpg. The car is an LE Eco which should be more economical.
Several visits to the dealer later, we were told that the diagnostics showed all systems OK and there was nothing to fix. I would like to clarify that the dealer was very courteous.
We are at 10,800 miles and getting the mpg we got in our previous Lexus SUV and Toyota Forerunner. All our previous cars and our children and grandchildren cars, all Toyota products, got excellent mpg. My daughter, not exactly a slow driver, gets 35 mpg from her Corolla in the city. We are seniors and drive at the speed limit, and follow the recommendations to save gas yet we get 19 to 21 mpg out of this car.
Finally we opened a case with Toyota Case # 1612221918 and were assigned a case manager a Travis C.
I just got a call back from him that there is nothing Toyota can do, the diagnostics speak for themselves and he could send me a brochure in how to calculate mpg. I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO TEACH THE ON BOARD COMPUTER TO CALCULATE MPG, BECAUSE IT ALSO READS 19 TO 21 MPG.
I need to know if other Toyota Corolla owners are having this problem.

Car mileage is very low as fuel consumption is higher. My car covers only 7 to 8 km in one liter petrol which is far lesser than Honda City and other cars, so please probe into this.
