I am writing to file a formal complaint against Toyota Motor Corporation regarding their refusal to acknowledge or repair a known manufacturing defect in my vehicle.
I own a 2016 Toyota Corolla, originally manufactured for and sold in the U.S. market. I legally imported the vehicle to Yemen. Shortly after, the vehicle suffered a CVT transmission failure, confirmed by the diagnostic code P2820.
This issue is well-documented and covered under Toyota USA’s Customer Support Program ZF4, which extends the warranty for this known defect.
I contacted Toyota Japan and their regional representative. Both refused to authorize the repair, stating that the campaign only applies within the U.S. — even though the defect is global and verified by NHTSA, who confirmed the campaign exists.
Toyota has only acknowledged the unrelated airbag recall, completely ignoring the transmission failure, leaving me with a defective vehicle and significant repair costs.
I respectfully request your support in pressuring Toyota to honor their responsibility and apply the same repair coverage globally, regardless of vehicle location.
I have all the documents proving the open campaign from Toyota, and the correspondence and emails of Toyota's customer support office in America and Japan, and their contradictory responses.
