Recently started driving this car to commute 40 minutes each way. On a number of occasions, when the cruise control is set to Adaptive Cruise Control, on flat pavement and with no traffic in front of vehicle, the engine spontaneously revs to around 4000 RPM. The RPMs eventually drop down to the previous set point, or a brake pedal pump will do the same.
Personally, this is very frustrating... the Adaptive Cruise Control is a nice feature, in theory, but when it malfunctions as described, it's of no value to me.
I pay a little more for Toyota vehicles compared to some other brands, to avoid this sort of problem. To me, seems like this could be resolved with a software update.
