Had routine scheduled service (oil change) at dealership on 2/2/22. Was told everything was good in their free multi-point inspection. On 2/7/2022, check engine light on. Took to car parts store and their code reader said issues with EVap system. Scheduled check at dealership. After 2 days, they determined my 3 year old car had severe corrosion in the filler neck (where the fuel enters the car and goes into the tank). They could not explain how that happens except to say I should clean the nozzle before putting it in the car. It was not covered by warranty but the dealership was "kind enough" to only charge me $165, rather than the $481 they initially indicated it could cost because of the extra diagnostics they required. Apparently, before doing the extras, they decided to check the filler neck "just to be sure." To note: I keep the exterior of my car very clean (at a minimum, washing every 2 weeks). I never gas at a place when the fuel truck is there.
