problem #1

Feb 132021

Corolla LE 1.8L

  • CVT transmission
  • 4,000 miles

This happened twice. I'm thinking fuel pump recall. By Toyota's records, my vin number isn't in their recall list of chosen vehicles. I had to turn engine over twice to get it to start. My thought is that there's not enough pressure to fire the injector or a dry line. So I mentioned this as well as a digital fuel readout not changing after adding three to four gallons of gas which happened to happen twice also.

My service interval of 5000 miles was coming up so I took it to the dealership and addressed my concerns. All the dealership did was update the DCM (Data Control Module) and rotate the tires. Toyota refused to go any farther in diagnosing the issue because no error codes triggered. Online it states this dcm module is for your car communication to Toyota through your cellphone. My research has had me thinking that the dcm drains your battery and leads to a dead battery. What does a communication box with Toyota have to do with lack of fuel or a gauge problem? No error code and no requirement for Toyota to diagnose or troubleshoot.

At this point I wish I had bought a Honda Civic.
