problem #1

Corolla LE 1.8L

  • CVT transmission
  • 4,800 miles

I got into my car to leave for work, and when I went to put on my seatbelt, it would not connect. I heard a jiggling sound inside the latch, and it would not fasten. After about 5 minutes of trying to get it to work, it finally clicked.

I drive off, and about a mile away from my job while going 45 miles an hour, the seatbelt gives way and releases by itself. The seatbelt alarm started going off and it was LOUD. I called roadside assistance to tow it because there was no way I was driving like that (dangerous and illegal).

The Toyota dealership replaced the part under warranty, and gave me a loaner Corolla to drive for the 3 days it took to order in the part from the factory. I'm shocked this even happened in the first place, up until now I'd never even heard of a seatbelt failing. Even my old 1998 Dodge Stratus I used to have, which had accident damage, didn't have this problem. So much for Toyotas being the best built vehicles on the road.

PS-Their Roadside Assistance is a whole other problem altogether. Save yourself the headache and get AAA.
