Etios LE 1.8L

  • CVT transmission
  • 124,274 miles

8 years 5 months into driving my 2014 Corolla the transmission started making a fairly loud noise and triggering a significant vibration every I would change gears into D or R. I took to car to the Toyota dealership service where I have always gone and I was told the transmission would have to be replaced but it's too expensive (12.000 $ CAN) (for a new CVT transmission) and therefore not worth it. I then took the car to Mr. Transmission and was given a quote of 4500$ (plus tax) to get the tranny replaced with a used one. Agreed with pricing, replacement transmission had 80,000 km (50,000 miles) on it, it came with a 3 months warranty. Please note that this is my 3rd Corolla and only one to give me such headaches. Only car in our family, very hard and long wait times to get any new cars, no way to wait 6 months to 1 year to get a new car. I lost faith in Toyota.

Update from May 15, 2023 Not sure why this website displays my Corolla as Etios. I have clearly selected the Toyota as "Corolla".
