problem #2

FJ Cruiser V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 83,560 miles

Cheap! The foot rest to the left of the brake pedal just broke loose after standing down on it to sit up. After looking at it is a very cheap part and poorly designed.

I ordered an OEM replacement part and installed it with very little trouble... it was equally cheap and so now I just know not to apply any force to it... Not the level of quality Toyota was know for in the past... disappointing.

FJ Cruiser Standard

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

The driver footrest (dead pedal) on the FJ Cruiser breaks away from its mounts easily and becomes a loose object under and around the gas and brake pedals while driving. Shortly after purchasing the car, this foot rest broke loose and became lodged under the brake pedal. When I attempted to stop, I could not depress the brake pedal and ran up over a parking lot bumper. Accident could have been much much worse. My Toyota dealer re-attached the foot rest, but it broke off again soon afterwords. VERY DANGEROUS!
