clear coat wears through

Since I am not a "car buff", I didn't know what had happened to the hood of my Fj, and I thought someone had come during the night and deliberately scratched or sanded the paint off! I was ready to accuse my neighbor, who I'd seen coming out of my driveway a few days earlier. I'm glad I didn't, but I stewed about it for quite a while until I was able to ask at the mechanic's and was told it was where the clear coat had worn through especially badly, and he showed me the various layers. Then he showed me where the rest of the hood was clouded quite badly and explained that that, too, was a problem with the clear coat, and that this was just a spot that went farther along. I hadn't realized why that part of the truck wouldn't shine up like the other parts and kept the cloudy look, but NOW I KNOW!

While that is really the only spot I've had a bad problem with the clear coat, I'm going to add that I was shocked to see that on the back door panel a large spot bubbled up with rust as well. It looks like a kid blew a big multi-bubble out of a bubble pipe and each little bubble has a rust ring around it. These two things are aside from all of the normal knicks and scrapes and scratches one expects to happen and deal with when you have a vehicle. These are the things that aren't from normal wear and tear, and aren't to be expected by someone using a vehicle for every day, personal use.

The Cruiser is overall a great vehicle, but there are a few issues Toyota should have been, and should now still be, addressing, for all those drivers who love the vehicle and want to continue driving them.

Reading some of the complaints is giving me deja vu about Samsung appliances...don't want to be compared to them, Toyota!!!!
