Highlander

I purchased a 2007 Toyota Highlander, hybrid in Sep of 2009. I have noticed an interruption in engaging the brakes every time I press the brake pedal. Toyota says this it a normal delay between the mechanical and ABS engaging. I am a long time driver and this is very unsettling.
