starting hearing the whining noise about 20,000 miles. Dealership said it was normal. Continued to hear noise --at 30,000 mile svc, dealership said we had a transmission problem ---toyota was researching. This has been going on for a month now and they continue to say they do not have a fix yet. Toyota tells us that a few customers have reported this same problem. Local toyota dealership definitely thinks the transmission needs to be replaced, but they have to wait on toyota???
Update from Feb 28, 2013: 2012 Toyota Highlander --started hearing the transmission whining noise at about 20,000 miles. Dealership at the time said it was normal. Continuining to hear noise and at 30,000 svc dealership said we had a transmission problem---toyota was researching. This has been going on for now a month or so and they still do not have a fix. Dealership says that toyota has a few complaints about this and they are working on a fix. Local toyota dealership thinks we need a new transmission?
