A week after we got our new Highlander the washers stopped working. I went back to the dealer and they fixed the rubber hose that had a hole in it. You could see that something had chewed it. They said nothing about this, only that it happens all the time. No charge that day. About 2 weeks later, after I had driven the car about 1000 miles, all the lights came on and said take to Dealer for repair. They said that I had a rodent problem and that the wiring was all chewed on the knock sensor and it would all have to be replaced.
After about a week I finally got my car back, and the bill was $1071.26. My deductible is $1000 so I had to pay all and try to get the $71.26 from the Insurance co. After that I could not put the new car in the garage on account of the rat that was in there. I got pictures of him on my camera, and finally got him after another 3 weeks.
I have lived at my home for 20 years and NEVER had any rats here. I believe the rat came with the New Highlander. This is also my 5th new Toyota and never had a problem with any of the other ones in the same garage. Someone told me about the soy wiring on the new one, and I believe that Toyota should pay for this bill.
