Transmission total failure. Paid $6,5549 to repair.
My Wife and I purchased a NEW 2019 Toyota before the new 2020 models came out. Initially we were very pleased with our new Toyota which ran perfectly for a year before we began experiencing problems directly related to (what we now know) were serious transmission issues for this model. When a whining noise first appeared I immediately went to the Toyota garage and described my concerns (i.e. a frequent whining "noise" that seemed to increase, followed by a vibration on the steering wheel). Nothing was found!!! The problem increased and we returned to the Toyota garage in Rock Hill, SC because of our concerns and were assured there was no transmission issue with our car...but there was, and no one could identify the issues or cause.
We eventually identified had the problem, and replaced the transmission with a rebuilt transmission at a cost of $5610.00! If it had not been for our son in law who assisted us, I am not sure we would have fared we well as we have.
Clearly, we are dissatisfied with these events. Had it not been for family, I am not sure how we would have fared...
We are dissatisfied with the manufacturer of these cars, particularly their quality control. This is inexcusable given today's level of technology. There also appears to be no way for us to recover the significant costs we have incurred...but are hopeful there will be a recourse sometime in the future...One thing is for sure, there will not be another Toyota in our garage after we get ride of this one.
