Do not ever buy a Toyota Hybrid.......The repair costs are outragious.
I bought a Fully loaded Hybrid Highlander Limited and loved the 24miles per gallon I received. It ran Wonderfull until the one dreadfull day it shut down dead and left me stranded on the interstate. I brought it to the dealer and GET THIS!!!!!!!!
After much pushing The dealer said that when they manufactured the transmission case their was a void or air bubble in the aluminum casting of the transmission case. Under pressure on the highway the fluid was forced out of the bubble or void and ruined the transmission which in turn blew the inverter which in turn blew my battery. The dealer (Millham Toyota wanted 7k for the transmission, 8K for the inverter (converts it to electric) and about $400.00 for the hybrid battery thats $15,500.00 plus you need brakes, rotors and tires. Toyota said since I am 1k over warranty go screw yourself. They were no help at all. I then find out that this void was a known problem and could have been avoided if they informed me. I told them to keep it and ruined my credit in doing so... I am considering a product liability law suit against Toyota but need to find other people with the same problem... I need to find the TSB that was sent out by Toyota telling mechanics to locate the leak and put some kind of gunk or sealer on it and send them on their way. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing??
If you ever blow a transmission you will undoubtably blow your inverter and battery and will be in for a huge expense to fix this Hybrid. What ever you save on gas will go out the window in repair bills. Do not buy a Toyota Hybrid. THESE HYBRIDS ARE VERRRY EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR. Despite what you hear about their quality They do not care about you once they get your money. If you end up with a car that makes it just out of lemon law reach then you will end up with nothing like I did, No car and no money.....
