This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Toyota dealer.
The vehicle was taken to the toyota dealer 10+ times before it got totaled. (not my fault). One day, when driving home from work, the check engine light came on. It was so annoying. I took the vehicle to Ganley Toyota in Akron, more than ten times. I finally got the problem fixed when someone made a left turn in front of me and the car got totaled. I felt that Ganley Toyota could've fixed the problem earlier but they wanted to keep fixing it off of warranty to get more and more money from toyota for fixing the problem.

Driving home from work in the Toyota Matrix. I noticed the Check Engine light on and when I came home I scheduled an appointment with the dealer. The dealer did nothing, just bullshitted about switching parts and the causes because the light was turned off and within 100 miles it came back... This happened to me for about 8-10 times. I also had the hard crank/start issue. I had to crank the car once and it wouldn't turn on. The second or third time I cranked it the car finally came on. There's one on youtube where the guy does about 5 long cranks to get his Matrix on so this is not just me... If this happened to you get the computer re-calibrated and this will fix the problem.
