About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
I have a 2007 Toyota Matrix and have 3 incidents of uncontrolled acceleration of over 70 mph and uncontrolled deceleration when going 35 to 60 mph in heavy traffic. I have been lucky enough to have avoided any accidents but last week came very close to hitting a tree. My car is not part of the recall. I have had trouble with my floor mats but this is not the problem with the accelerator. I took the car to the dealership and they said that there is nothing wrong with the accelerator. My local dealership refuses to fix it. They tell me that it is safe to drive even though cars are being recalled to have the accelerator fixed. The owner of the dealership has basically blown me off and says it is my problem. Since my car is on the recall list it won't be fixed. What can I do" do the 2010 Toyota's have the same problems? I can't trade this car in for another brand car because of this problem. My car is in excellent shape and with only 24,500 miles. What can I do"
