Car acted like it was running out of gas when driving from WA to MT in 100+ degree temps at high elevation. When pulled over and started car again it would turn over many times and not stop even when key was turned off. Once car cooled I could drive it for 4 miles. Put gas in and drove for 100 miles.

Took to dealer couldn't diagnose because no lights (check engine) were on. Googled the issue and a Service bulletin appeared in Toyota forum that sounded like issue. Service bulletin said to replace fuel pump, warranty at 60k or 6 years. I was at 61,500, but Toyota was kind enough to still replace under warranty. Dealer ended up bringing in wrong part and had to take from a used 2013 Corrolla. Drove around MT for a week, no issues.

Headed back to WA, drove 5 hours and same issue in 105 degree temps going up hill (half tank gas). Car acts like out of gas, turn over and keeps cranking. Filled with gas, cooled car down and drove the rest of the way to WA. Called new dealer in WA, they won't fix issue because can't duplicate situation. Have drove it around WA for a week no issues, but I would like the peace of mind that when I do travel I have a car that will make it. ARGH!!!

I would think that Toyota would also want there customers to have this peace of mind....guess not. Service said if we can't duplicate Toyota won't cover it. Not sure what to do at this point, except rant here!
