I am just now reading about the soy based material Toyota and other manufacturers use on the wiring systems in their cars. I cannot believe this! My much-loved Prius, that I bought new in 2005, ran like a top and had low miles and I had hoped to drive it another five years. Nope. Total loss after a rodent chewed the harness including the wires to the air bags (not repairable). Replacement harness is $6,000 - more than the car was worth so it was totaled. $1000 deductible and out $10,000 for another Prius. It was in my garage when it happened! Now we have traps and devices all around. Something needs to change here!
