In any cold weather conditions where the heater would be nice to have turned on, it will do no good until you have driven several miles so that everything is hot enough for the heater to put out ever so small amounts of cold air. If you start with the heater on it makes the engine run and drops the cars gas mileage to half. By the time I get to work about 4 miles the car is just starting to warm up and now it's time to turn it off so all I got was low gas mileage and no heat. What I get is a drive to work with No heater coming or going to work for about 5 mounts. I might as well walk and save lots of gas.

Driving into a stiff wind is like trying to get your car moving forward when it's against a brick wall. Horrible gas mileage. The answer to the Prius mileage is to always drive with the wind and downhill as much as possible. In doing so you will triple your gas millage. Lucky for me I live in the Midwest and the wind blows in large circles. It may take a few more miles to where I'm going and back home but the millage is fantastic.
