Toyota knows that their original emergency equipment is defective, they have admitted this. The problem is that there is a small plastic switch - when it breaks through normal usage the entire emergency brake assembly must be replaced. This is a manufacturing defect. It seems to me that since Toyota is aware of this and they knows this is a MANUFACTURING DEFECT they would MAN UP and repair it at their cost or reimburse their customers for the cost of the repair and replacement. The cost of which was/is $600.00. What do other customers think about this problem?

Took for oil change prior. Noise prior. Took to Geico for accident evaluation (just body scratched) Left after evaluation and parked at Walmart, two miles down the road. When I tried to back out of parking space, the vehicle would not move. Shifted back to FWD a few feet. Tried again. Very noisy but moved. Took directly to Toyota dealer. Break pad had worn down, the actual spindle cracked, split. No warning to check brakes. No prior warning!
