The inverter coolant pump failed while on the interstate, causing many dash lights to come on including the red triangle. Eventually the car forced itself into neutral and I had to stop the car on the shoulder. After stopping and putting it in park, it went back in drive and I drove a few miles further and it forced into neutral again. The time it went from drive to forced neutral became shorter and shorter. I finally made it to a exit and coasted into a gas station. I read my ECM codes got the P0A93 which is the Inverter coolant pump. there were other codes related to brake system and computer data bus error, these are ghost codes that go away after the pump is replaced and codes are reset.
A time saving tip, if you are on the side of the road installing a pump from a local Autoparts store, unbolt the pumps 3 bolts from the bracket, and just replace the pump, not the bracket. install the new pump to the old bracket, it will save you a lot of extra work.
*This pump is a common failure point; I'm surprised there aren't more listings of it failing. I was unable to indicate a self-repair and price. the pump came from advance auto and cost 190$ with a lifetime warranty, the warranty is good because it will fail again.
