Normally, I would not mention this, but the problems with oil consumption and Toyota's response have upped my complaint factor: When I drove my new Toyota off the car lot, the dash rattled whenever I got on a rough road. Because the car had not been in stock at the dealer when I ordered it, I had not had a chance to drive it before I bought it. The car was quiet on a smooth road and only rattled when the road got a little rough. I complained to the dealer at one of the oil changes. The service writer said they could disassemble the dash, but I knew this was not a good idea: I could end up with more rattles than I now had. He suggested that a technician could reach up under the dash and insert some insulation between the panels that were likely rattling. I agreed. This handled about 70% of the rattle for about a year. I've always liked to order a car to get exactly what I wanted, but this episode prompts me to always test drive the car I'm going to buy before I buy it.
Sorry to waste time with such a lame complaint, but my other frustrations with oil consumption are spilling over into everything Toyota.

Shortly after I purchased the vehicle, it soon turned out to be a rattle box. There is a vibrating rattle directly in front of the drivers seat in the dash. A rattle somewhere in the passenger door that rattles when the engine hits a certain RPM, a rattle in the door when the bass is above -1. A rattle somewhere on the back hatch. A rattle/squeak where the cupholder meets the glove box. I wish I could have people in my car but Im beyond embarrassed by how many rattles there are.
