Prius Hybrid 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS I NEED THE NUMBER 4 COIL REPLACED SO I DID THIS AND THE LIGHT IS STILL ON SAYING I NEED A NEW NUMBER 4 COIL.

DEALERSHIP CHANGES NUMBER 4 COIL WITH NUMBER 3 COIL ( ALL AT MY EXPENSE ) JUST TO HAVE THE LIGHT COME ON AND SAYS NUMBER 4 IS BAD.

I HAD THEM PUT THE CAR BACK TOGETHER AND HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT EVER SINCE WITH THE LIGHT ON AND SOMETIMES OFF FOR UP TO 3 DAYS AT A TIME BUT MOSTLY ON.

I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM HAS TO DO WITH THE BAD PISTON RINGS THAT TOYOTA USED AND OIL IS GETTING ONTO THE TOP OF PISTON NUMBER 4 ( THIS WAS ANOTHER COMPLAINT I SUBMITTED FOR OIL CONSUMPTION ON THIS CAR ).

while driving check light, hand brake, caution goes on

Just need to get the dam thing fixed as it's giving me a headache every now and then. The car dealer is not offering to help and also the electrical fault is not covered by the insurance.

I had car serviced in July, 2014 while it was under a service warranty, all was well. 6 months later I'm told I need not only the EGR valve but intake fuel treatment - $139.95, Clean Throttle Plate - $79.95, HEPA Filter - $42.95, HVAC ventilation treatment - $124.95. I felt I was being ripped off at my favorite dealer, Are these repairs reasonable, necessary and is anyone else having my experience?
