Since purchasing this longed-for uber upscale IV model, have been enormously frustrated by the discomfort of the cabin temperature in summer and winter. The worst is the glare and reflection of the sun on the very large black dash. In summer it is viciously hot, especially when driving into the sun or vehicle has to be parked in direct sunlight. Even when the auto cooling option is on throughout a summer day, the car is scorching on entry, requiring a lot of air cond to cool it down. Sun shades help, but can't drive with the windshield covered (duh) so temperature rises once sunshade removed and driving commenced. Then, air needs to be directly in my face if driving into the sun or the sweating begins. In winter it is viciously hot when driving into the sun as well. If wearing a coat, and driving direction is facing sun, the coat has to be stripped off due to sweating profusely. At times I turn on the AC, like yesterday, when it was 14 degrees outside and broiling inside from the black dash absorbing and radiating the sun. The glare on the dash also makes viewing the LED temp gauge and display panel difficult. As for night driving, there seems to be a 15 minute lag before the heater is warm enough for comfort and there seems to be points of cold air on console and door side blowing on my legs making for discomfort. I am not kidding when I report that I bought a plug-in electric car blanket to cover my legs at night and have tried several cloth and sheepskin steering wheel covers to try to keep my hands from aching with cold, even in driving gloves. I love this car for many reasons but I have had enough of the glare, the intense heat rising from the dash all seasons in the sun, the cold air leaks. Yes, I am a female "of a certain age", but I don't have issues like this in our other vehicles (Jeep Grand Cherokee and Miata). I am ready to trade this little bugger in because of the climate and glare issues. Soooo disappointed. I just wonder if anyone else in the prius world finds these climate/temp extremes to be issues. I have traveled extensively in my friend's 2008 Prius model and never experienced any of this discomfort. All I have to say is thank goodness the 2011 A/C works well. Otherwise, I would be a crispy critter, no matter the season. Grrrr
