I have reported this problem with braking, and the dealer said there was nothing wrong. I am afraid to lend my car to anyone because of the sudden lurching when stopping. I cannot drive in snow because I am afraid of not stopping, and it is so bad, I went out and bought another car with all wheel drive.

Bought a new Prius V in 2012, had every service done on time since purchase and am rewarded with a $4,108.55 repair estimate from the Dealer for a brake repair? While slowing for a traffic light my brakes went limp and my dash lights lit up like a Christmas tree. Now for years I have heard a purring sound intermittingly sounding from the engine area. I assumed it was part of the hybrid drive and was normal. The sound of the pump as I now realize seemed to be happening more often as I took the v in for service a couple of weeks before the brake failure and had a coolant flush and new plugs installed. Not very happy with my servicing dealer or corporate as I learned of the replacement program and that it expired 7 months previous for me. I have lost any savings I might have had driving a Prius. I traded in a Mercedes GL450 in on a new Avalon Hybrid in 2015 because I was sick of the high maintenance cost. The joke is on me. Toyota makes great vehicles but this ridiculous effort by corporate to not have a recall on a critical component could lead to serious injury or death. Not to mention folks like me, retired with limited funds paying up. Toyota will not be on my shopping list when I trade.
