The ABS/regen/hydraulic braking conflict on my 2013 3rd gen Prius v, previously documented, is getting worse as my car ages. It was only slightly apparent in the first 2 years but is getting progressively worse. The brakes let go on constant brake pressure when the front wheels lose traction: wet road, bumps, train tracks, gravel, uneven road surface, speed bumps, etc.

Problem occurs on a nearly daily basis now.

I was talked into leasing by a sales person at RIGHT TOYOTA in Scottsdale, Arizona (boy talk about a scam). I noticed almost immediately that the brakes felt mushy. Each time I took the car in for servicing I mentioned first that when I was backing up the brakes would 'lock' and then surge backwards and was told of course, nothing was wrong. They also never added these concerns to my paperwork and became defensive when I questioned them about this, as if there are 'lemon' issues, you have to have it on the paperwork.

Finally in the summer of 2014 in Ocala, Florida a female service person took this complaint seriously and spoke to a tech and there actually WAS an issue with this that Toyota knew about, and that part of the braking issue got FIXED! Only a year later!

The 'mushy' brake issue in generally and what is now becoming a scary situation is that especially coming down grades, when I go to apply the brakes there is a serious surge forward and I find myself having to apply the brakes pretty hard to get them to actually work. The last time I had the car in for a battery issue, I mentioned this and of course was told 'all is fine'. In the past few months, there is now another scary issue that randomly, when I apply the brakes and make a moving right hand turn, the rear end seems to lock up and the car fishtails to the left...

Now this being said, I'm currently driving up and down a mountain 4 days/week and I always pray that the brakes will not give way, or the surging will not be so bad that I won't be able to control the car. Today (7/17/15), the car is going into the dealership AGAIN. We will see how quickly they say that nothing is wrong.

Toyota is a horrible company to deal with as a woman and I told myself 13 years ago after looking at Tundras when they first came out and being told by a salesperson then, that he felt he needed to speak with my male friend about the truck, as I wouldn't know enough, that I would NEVER buy/lease one. I should have stuck to that.
