This vehicle has a push start and keyless remote fob. The engine was started properly with the keyless remote inside of the vehicle. I stepped out of the vehicle and the key was left outside of the vehicle. I drove away and the engine was still running. There is no safety feature that notifies you that the key is outside of the vehicle or stops the engine when the key is out of range.

We were driving in the city and after going on a slight incline road the car started to lose power. Noticed a few warning indicators came on the dash then I lost the ability to accelerate the car so I had to pull over while it was slowing down. I restarted the car and was able to drive short distances till it completely lost the ability to drive due to lost of acceleration. Very scary situation and it seems like its due to their inverter issues they were trying to fix with a software update. If the shop confirms, its due to the inverter issues, not sure if id feel safe driving the car even if they replace the whole inverter assembly. It's our family car for road trips and I wouldn't feel comfortable until they find a solid fix for this issue. 3 recalls for the same issue? that's ridiculous.

May 3, 2019, approximately 33 days after software updated due to recall (to prevent stalling) vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. Due to location of event, all property damage and injuries were minor. Event has been reported to Toyota and owner's auto insurance provider. Vehicle was in a commercial parking lot, braking in process, moving at less than 5 mph when acceleration occurred.

The contact owns a 2013 Toyota Prius V. while driving approximately 20 mph and attempting to brake, the vehicle did not stop and the tire pressure monitoring system, anti-lock, brake, and electronic stability control indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to john elway's crown Toyota (1201 kettering dr, Ontario, ca 91761) where it was diagnosed that the brake booster/brake booster pump and master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the vehicle had a software failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 106,853. The consumer stated the vehicle over heated. The hybrid battery pack needed to be replaced and the was also an issue concerning the electric pump assembly. A recall repair was completed on the vehicle that caused issues with the master cylinder and brake booster pump assembly. The consumer has since not driven the vehicle.

I was driving and pulling out into the road and upon accelerating the car jumped and then suddenly stalled - luckily I was able to move it to the side of the road. After restart the car is running slowly as far as pickup and all the yellow lights are on. It seems this was a recall in Oct. 2018 and I think now my inverter is blown or not working. Taking it to the dealership to diagnose.

Often referred clock spring as it is referred to part number 84307-47020 it affects a multitude of things on my car that are safety related including the horn, the buttons on the steering wheel that control the radio and tricks odometer, the airbag, maybe be airbags plearle, be adaptive cruise control and maybe other things. My knowledge my car has never been wrecked or had airbags blown and this is very premature for this part to fail. Believe Toyota should take responsibility for it. The warning light came on and it says in the manual that is unsafe to drive. Do not have a clue why it failed. The Toyota dealer repair is close to $900 which is ridiculous.

Toyota imp as I went to accelerate onto one of the most dangerous entrances to the 110 parkway in los angeles, my car stalled. The car worked very slowly for a couple of minutes, then it would not even go into drive. There was still power and air conditioning. After having it towed off the highway to the dealership, it was confirmed to be the power inverter. I had the software recall done in 2015, yet my car's inverter still failed.

I am concerned as the owner of the identified vehicle in this complaint of serious safety and vehicle fuel efficiency issues regarding this vehicle. It has been widely circulated in national media that certain Toyota prius vehicles, have been involved in catastrophic power inverter failures that have resulted in serious damage to these vehicles and often serious and potentially life threatening bodily injuries to the occupants of these vehicles. It should be noted that my prius was part of a recall campaign that was supposed to address this inverter issue but seems to have been nothing more than a band-aid software fix to a problem that is actually the result of defective electrical connections. This catastrophic power inverter failure is a serious safety problem that is far beyond the scope of a simple software solution. Many individuals are also complaining of up to a 15% or more drop in fuel efficiency since this so-called software fix was initiated. I personally have experienced a drop in fuel efficiency of my Prius V from a consistent 42 mpg since 2013 to 35 mpg over the last three months. My concern that this drop in fuel efficiency is connected to the power inverter problems associated with this vehicle. I recently communicated my concerns relating to the power inverter problems to my local Toyota dealer. They informed me that they were aware of some issues regarding the inverters and that as a result Toyota increased the warranty of this component from 8 yrs./100K miles to 15 yrs./unlimited miles! this would seem to indicate that Toyota is fully aware that this is a serious issue. I am concerned that Toyota is not addressing this potentially deadly safety issue.

The contact owns a 2013 Toyota Prius V. while making a U-turn and depressing the accelerator pedal at 45 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate and lost traction. The vsc, engine, and hybrid system malfunction warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with a malfunctioning hybrid system and battery. The contact was unaware of the repairs that were needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact stated that VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15V449000 (hybrid propulsion system). The failure mileage was 128,000.

Dealer says everything is normal but we are concerned about driving the vehicle with the whole family which includes children. Concerned about Toyota not responding to our claims and the risk of collision as a possibility.

2013 Toyota Prius V. consumer writes in regards to vehicle electrical system failure. The consumer stated when his wife exited the vehicle, she noticed the headlights were not on. They were set to remain on for a brief period after the engine was turned off. She got back in the vehicle and the electrical system failed; no lights, the door locks did not work and the engine would not start, the only functioning item, was the brake lights. The consumer and his wife tried several times, to get the vehicle to start, so eventually they had a technician come and start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where they were unable T O find a problem. The second occurrence happened on May 31, 2014. When the consumer returned to the vehicle four hours later, he was unable to unlock the driver's door. Eventually, he removed the physical key from the electronic key fob, and opened the door, but was unable to start the vehicle. The only sign of electricity was two green turn signal lights flashing simultaneously when he pushed the power button. The consumer returned hours later, and the vehicle started immediately. However, the clock had zeroed out confirming the power failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but they were unable diagnose a problem.
