Bought a 2015 Toyota Prius V Four on June 19, 2015 after an unfortunate accident with my 2014 Prius V Five (leaving it totaled) while getting serviced at different dealership (a completely different rant). On June 23, 2015 the touch screen began freezing. I was too shocked to take video (lesson learned!). This is a known problem at Toyota. True to the experience of others the dealership claims to not be aware of the issue, even though Toyota says they have pushed something out (oh and I found the communication on another site.) Because they can't duplicate the issue, they say there is nothing to do at this time. Again - get video when this happens to you!!!!!!!
Quoted from the Tech Tip the dealership claims to not have: If this condition is found, stop the diagnosis and follow the instructions below.
This issue is currently under investigation. ï‚· Please create a TAS case and contact Technical Assistance (TAS) to submit details on any vehicle identified matching the condition described in this document prior to repair. ï‚· If you are attempting to contact TAS on a weekend or TMS holiday, continue with diagnosis and submit the requested information on the next available work day. Retain all replaced parts and technician notes for possible review with TMS TAS Product Engineer. ï‚· When creating a TAS case, use the following case coding to ensure it is directed to the Electrical group: o Audio/Visual/Telematics + Navigation/Multi Info Display + Nav System/Display/Components + Inoperative
Toyota should recall there Nav System Display!!!!
Update from Aug 16, 2015: The issue is the radio itself. Some of the cars were installed with the incorrect radio. It needs to be replaced. Toyota USA knows about this. If the dealership gives you a hard time, call Toyota USA directly. That is what I had to do.

I thought it was me.
My brand new, beautiful Prius V (model 4) is perfect in just about every way, but the touch screen freezes sometimes. I thought I just had to read the manual, that I must be doing something, or there were some safety features guarding against operating the touch screen when driving at a certain speed. When I found no help in the manuals, I started Googling and found other new owners are having the exact same problem. The problem is intermittent, but it might be related to the outside temperature: works more reliably on cool mornings than warm afternoons. I will have to call the dealership today, but based on others' posts, I am not optimistic.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

First Toyota here... switched because lifestyle changed and a high city MPG w/ space is now a priority.
Touch screen goes unresponsive at LEAST 2 times a week (driven daily). When this happens only steering wheel controls seem to work. The only solution is to turn off ignition and turn car back on when at a stoplight. I am posting here so that other can see they are not alone and perhaps this problem will get fixed. I plan on calling Toyota and perhaps taking vehicle in to shop this week.
Other things of note: Has happened w/ and w/o --> ... w/ flash-drive inserted and audio playing --> ... w/ route navigation initiated --> when paired to Android 5.0 phones --> when streaming BT audio --> when Entune android app integration has been running

This issue has plagued us since day 1, literally. Drove off the lot and couldn't use navigation to type in an address for routing. We thought we just needed to read the manual to figure it out. Fast forward 4 weeks, and through research, we now know it's a major issue for a lot of owners.
1. Touch screen freezes. Can't access navigation, phone, web, etc. 2. GPS bounces all over the place, to cities/States I am not in. 3. Navigation destination grays out the address and web options so we cannot seek a destination by address or from the Internet. 4. When touch screen freezes, I can't use phone controls from screen or steering wheel. I can use my cell phone to make the call, and the Bluetooth option works. But, after making a call, the car randomly chose a Favorites cell number from my screen and called it. I know I didn't do it, because I was driving, and it chose my number to call!
We are upset because this was a known problem to Toyota prior to buying the car, and it was not disclosed to us. Toyota USA and Toyota dealerships are selling defective equipment.
We have appointment with dealer service in a few days and will report back. They seem to think a software upgrade will fix it. Begs the question of why they didn't check the car more thoroughly and do all upgrades before we drove the car off the lot.
Update from May 18, 2015: Had it serviced today. They replaced Entune head unit and said it was good to go. When we started the car, the navigation system was STILL frozen. They have no solution. They have no loaner cars. Will keep car until they talk with Toyota corporate. This doesn't make us happy. Selling defective equipment.

The radio turns itself on, shifts back and forth between presets, shifts to active/inactive sources. The GPS system locks up. The touch screen totally locks up. This is a big problem with the 2015 Prius v (see priuschat.com - Prius V - audio - touch screen). Toyota's popular response is to either blame the dealership, or Panasonic. Panasonic has no replacement parts available. I have endured this problem for > 3 months with no fix, or plan for a fix!!!
Update from Oct 12, 2015: THe dealer replaced the complete "head unit" in May 2015 and all problems with the nav, audio, etc. are GONE!!! My understanding is the early production V's (Nov-Dec,2014) had faulty head units.... I have not had another problem since May!!!!

We bought this last Friday. It had 150 miles on the car. When questioned, the salesman said it might have come from another dealer as a trade for a car that the other dealer might have needed for a customer. The touch screen failure was first noticed on Monday, 3 days later. My wife told me about it and wondered if she had done something wrong. I confirmed the problem yesterday. The touchscreen becomes useless and will not accept any inputs. The temperature did not matter, the interior of the car had been on AC for quite a while and was very comfortable. When next started, it worked.
I called the dealer, Reinhardt Toyota of Montgomery. The service person I talked to hesitated for quite a while when he heard the problem, leading me to suspect that he did not want this problem brought to his attention. The service at this dealer is usually very quick. With our previous 2014 Prius V we could usually get in within a day or two (our 2014 ran great but I wanted more bells and whistles!). Not this time. He said we could not bring our car in until Thursday next week! No amount of reasoning with him would get us in sooner.
After this experience and the mileage issue at sale time leads my suspicious mind to think that they knew about the problem before they sold me the care (I do NOT know this to be true). However, it is obvious from the prior complaints listed on this website that they knew this to be an issue and sold me the car without informed consent. I am a doctor and required to give reasonable informed consent, why aren't they?
